I feel a little bit bad for letter J, because I dont think Jam is going to live up to lasts week's excitement--but I'll do my best!

Okay, Monday started off with Family Home Evening: I am a Child of God http://confessionsofaslackermom.com/preschool-curriculum/walk-beside-me-lds-preschool-i-is-for-i-am-a-child-of-god/

Tuesday was an interesting day because we had one of our ECI Developmental therapists stop in to work with Oliver {2 1/2--I had a few concerns of him being a tad bit behind, and wanted him to get a little extra help} Since I knew I was going to be a bit pre-occupied, I wanted to create a work-box system for Briggy to use on Tuesdays and Thursdays, since I need to really have one-on-one focus time with Oliver for at least 30 minutes. Ive been researching worboxes for awhile, and although I thought they were a neat idea, they just werent applicable for me last year since Briggy was only just turning 3 and he had me working with him the entire time.
I know my workbox system isnt conventional, but it works for us. In box #1 {Tuesday} Briggy had Letter I practice writing, Letter I words writing, and Short I/Long I worksheets and game, Hot Dots letter I flash cards and an Ice Cream Cone Alphabet Match game
Here are some pics and links!

Letter I worksheets:
{Ive been really impressed with Briggy staying much better in the lines lately!}
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FmGBP5AS_Ok/TwyUapi-ljI/AAAAAAAAEHg/5JCNwZzhuoY/s400/009.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696090814266906162" />
http://www.education.com/worksheet/article/coloring-learn-letter-i/

Ice Cream Alphabet Match/Number Match

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hWJDZBqUiLg/TwyTwGYmHLI/AAAAAAAAEHU/7QJnN2rV2mQ/s400/010.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696090083273612466" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XBWjTHw5US4/TwyTv4h8oxI/AAAAAAAAEHI/bL38ltHW1TY/s400/003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696090079554741010" />
Here is the link to quite a few activities to choose from: http://www.geocities.com/thetoddlerhouse824/icecream.html

Long I/Short I worksheets:http://www.education.com/files/65901_66000/65982/file_65982.pdf
Long I/Short I sorting game: {page 14}
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BcvJJQ3OP0g/TwyU2Jx9ojI/AAAAAAAAEH4/wog-gd31K3w/s400/012.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696091286776160818" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-A69P_FOSv7M/TwyU16wi5-I/AAAAAAAAEHs/MfCxi_yN2rg/s400/013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696091282743683042" />
http://confessionsofaslackermom.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/I-packet.pdf
Heres another one! http://www.education.com/worksheet/article/vowels-long-short-i-kindergarten/

We love Hot Dots Jr: http://www.amazon.com/Educational-Insights-Getting-Ready-School/dp/B004K9BWA4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1326224755&sr=8-6
For the workbox, I just pulled about 5-6 cards that had I's in them
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kI0CEWNzdsE/TwyVxBEpHCI/AAAAAAAAEIE/U_wBmTpFRqU/s400/002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696092298050870306" />

Worbox 2 included: Ice Cream Patterns, Ice Cream Colors, Rainbow Ice Cream Cone Game! We have the Cookie and Cupcake one as well. Santa did some shopping at Learning Resources this year!

What's great about this game is the color recognition. Its so educational and lots of fun! Oliver and Briggy play nicely with it--When Oliver is playing we use the color scoop side {like shown in the picture} But when its just Briggy and Mommy, you can flip the scoops over and they have the written word of the color, so its more thought-provoking for the older crew. I've been so happy with this game, we played it every day last week!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-seEpgpvFh1I/TwyacRlfA-I/AAAAAAAAEJM/YQfqtsQgWPk/s400/001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696097439264474082" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kn2osRJ53cw/Twyabwr3AXI/AAAAAAAAEJA/m1hgi8W4K5Y/s400/008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696097430432842098" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nm-_ZfMUlMo/TwyabvFM39I/AAAAAAAAEI0/bctPMySR7Zo/s400/004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696097430002261970" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rQAh5VBfuoM/TwyabJcyApI/AAAAAAAAEIs/aBhvCHyfht4/s400/011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696097419900617362" />

More Ice Cream Color Review:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 304px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sEu8QsRMWFk/Tw3Y64miqqI/AAAAAAAAEJk/35eEsM4wQFk/s400/icecreamfilefolder.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696447609831598754" />

http://www.mrprintables.com/printable-file-folder-games-ice-cream.html
Patterns:
http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/general_content/free_resources/teachers_corner/projects/iceCreamPatterning.jsp?f=math
I-spy bags:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-o-ce7kIzaVY/TwyZtdGa-PI/AAAAAAAAEIQ/9GjT7UriiuY/s400/006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5696096634901559538" />

http://sewcakemake.blogspot.com/2010/08/ispy-bag-tutorial.html

What I planned to do on Friday, but it fell threw because we held an playgroup instead {bad mama! i need to incorporate more math next week!}
Ice Cream Shapes: I planned to cut out from construction paper: triangles {cones} circles {scoops of icecream-cherry} smaller rectangles and stars {sprinkles} and have the boys glue and put together their own icecream cones. I really underestimated how much I had to get done and all the projects I wanted to accomplish for Christmas with the boys, and blogging just didnt happen! Now that everything has calmed down, I plan on following one of my new years resolutions---to stay as consistent as possible with this blog, because it helps me keep focused on homeschooling!
For letter G we did a fun Gingerbread unit and crafts and "H" was the week after christmas and we honestly didnt do much other than play with lots of the educational Christmas toys and we had a lesson "Happy New Year" where we colored a picture with new years hats and I talked about the calendar and how we were starting the new year with January 2012. I'll be adding more calendar time/circle time info soon as we are starting our group preschool on wednesdays with friends. I'm pretty excited about featuring that on Wednesdays, because each week a new mother {teacher} is in charge of the lesson, and Im excited for the fresh approach on the lesson. The preschool is geared towards the younger children 2-3, although my son Brigham {almost 4} will be in the group.

We have been working on Letter I this week--Ice Cream. I hope to get the post with all the links up tomorrow! I finally can post. Just when I started really getting in the swing of things with preschool our COMPUTER DIES! Luckily we were only without for a couple weeks and now we have one up and running. Needless to say the dynamic of preschool changed since most of the worksheets and activities I use are print outs. Lesson learned: I will print out lesson plans week in a advance instead of the night before....just in case something like that ever happens again. I wanted to post some links to great Thanksging and Autumn themed ideas I've been working on with the boys and plan to work on this week. Then I'll be on the hunt for lots and lots of fun Christmas ideas!

1. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 394px; height: 394px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zL5WstXw5aE/Tsq6PBUmoPI/AAAAAAAAECY/5FEQNnMt1_I/s400/thanksgivingpack1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5677555047469588722" />

http://mamasmonkeys.blogspot.com/2011/10/thanksgiving-tot-pack.html

2. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 211px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RatGMiEx3zE/Tsq7iNixT-I/AAAAAAAAECk/Yj06I-tkLjs/s400/Thanksgivingpack2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5677556476679376866" />

http://itsybitsylearners.com/preschool-printables/thanksgiving/

3. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 307px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iwjDaKi7G5I/Tsq8gGFwYbI/AAAAAAAAEC4/lSDBcumvg3Q/s400/Thanksgivingpack3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5677557539830522290" />

http://www.2teachingmommies.com/2011/11/thanksgiving-expanded.html

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 307px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pXVYues-Gf4/Tsq8f4nxXHI/AAAAAAAAECw/zXHuYdG08zg/s400/Turkeypack.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5677557536215096434" />

http://www.2teachingmommies.com/2011/11/turkeys-expanded.html

4. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VNwsrp6674g/Tsq9HCJ2syI/AAAAAAAAEDI/0lqpCvZX66c/s400/thanksgivingpack4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5677558208788869922" />

http://homeschoolcreations.blogspot.com/2011/11/thanksgiving-printable-pack-free.html

5. He is so crazy adorable--he looks just like Briggy looked when he was a newbie, but I have to say he is starting to look even more like his father now that we've hit the 1 month mark!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zx_GEI1Ue6A/Tp4LqBjcSgI/AAAAAAAAD_w/bnZkwus25BQ/s400/154.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664978197878163970" />

I started full blown scheduled preschool with the boys {but mostly just Briggy} on Monday, October 3rd. I really needed the first month with Henry to take it easy since I've been zombie momma with all the feedings! Phew! I re-organized my "craft room" and turned it into half craft room half preschool room. I still need to get some organizational bins in cute colors to put on the shelves and fill them with all my overflow of craft supplies and preschool doo-dads, but other than that I'm pretty much all done and organized {finally! it should have been a 1-2 day project but it ended up taking me a WEEK!}

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-brURhs3I33I/Tp4Ew2A6YgI/AAAAAAAAD94/AoJxNUAcc2A/s400/133.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664970618458235394" />

This skinny little closet holds office "bank boxes" that I just covered with scrapbook paper. I saw the idea to use shoe holders on the back of a door for supplies on pinterest---awesome idea. I like not having to rumage through the art supply box for all my quick go-to items.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KrnR-sNdADI/Tp4F4hS7tRI/AAAAAAAAD-c/ywMyg7EiyUY/s400/132.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664971849847256338" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rKbtDhGShds/Tp4F3kFdhEI/AAAAAAAAD-U/i9fo9BAV4Sk/s400/130.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664971833416188994" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aXqaJJd51EU/Tp4F3B6Lx1I/AAAAAAAAD-E/n1NrmaNNSo8/s400/131.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664971824242083666" />

Right now we have a calendar up and a weather chart. Im hoping to get some of the spice racks at IKEA {they are only $3-4!} and hang a few up on that wall as well and have them hold the books we are currently reading for the Letter week and the season. Right now we are reading LOTS of halloween books. My boys are SOOOOOO excited for trick-or-treating this year!
heres a link to the idea here:
http://domesticsimplicity.com/2010/12/30/quick-easy-childrens-book-storage/
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xUtJ4tfd2Gg/Tp4H1sGqJuI/AAAAAAAAD_Q/xOgo9dj7ECQ/s400/128.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664974000232212194" />

We also have a "redone" chalkboard/whiteboard easel that I snagged for a few dollars at our community garage sale. The white board part was so beat up that I covered it with white felt to make into a felt board. I like have that for stories. I dont have too many felt cut outs yet--iron on transfer paper is my next purchase. My friend has tons of scripture story felt pieces that she has let me borrow, so its gotten a little use so far!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dgqduca17So/Tp4H1ci2sNI/AAAAAAAAD_A/-WK7wLhlIGM/s400/126.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664973996055507154" />

On the other wall in between the bedrooms and before the playroom we have a White board that I hang up the scripture of the week. I hadn't printed it out when I took this picture, so its just the "All About Me" picture that they had worked on that day. I have written out what we are doing that week to get them excited for the next day! Below the board is our "Bee-havior" chart. I found these cute little bee cutouts in the clearance bin at Michaels over the summer and knew they'd be the perfect visual for Gordon B Hinckley's 6 Be's {Be Humble, Be Prayerful, Be Grateful, Be Smart, Be True, Be Clean} They each get a bumble-bee sticker when Daddy gets home after we talk about our day {and if they've been good!}
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7qvYCpnXCKk/Tp4Izgsq0qI/AAAAAAAAD_k/TKfU_WxUapo/s400/096.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664975062322303650" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oFoeT64kGp8/Tp4IzSGmpBI/AAAAAAAAD_Y/fDsjnv348ic/s400/129.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5664975058404549650" />

In our Playroom we made our very own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree! Ive tested out a couple ideas last year, and trying some new ones this year. I like doing a letter of the week as a focus, but Briggy is more k-4 right now so I need to amp it up. This is how our week goes {granted its only week 3, so we'll see if I change things or not...}

Sunday: Sabbath Day School {He has sunday school at church, but when we get home to keep the reverence going Im staring a binder up for him that has this LDS preschool curriculum in it--A was for Adam, B was for baptism and this week is C for Creation}
Monday: Playgroup with friends @ 10am, Family Home evening {lesson, activity, treat} when Daddy gets home {based on the letter topic from Sunday {unless a holiday or seasonal lesson is appropriate}
Tuesday: Letters and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom reading and activity
Wednesday: Math, Numbers, Shapes
Thursday: Depending on errands/appointments. We have more of an "educational game" time from 10-12
Friday: Art project {Color focus} and Briggy's pick

Briggy really loves the Preschool Packs from Homeschool Creations and 2 Teaching Mommies, so he likes to work on those on Tuesday and Friday especially}

Tomorrow I will have posts for the specific A, B and C worksheets etc that we did, so you can click, explore and print yourself! Ive been very sick the past couple weeks, in and out of the hopsital. Unfortunately Ive been put on strict bedrest with my boys staying with friends most days of the week. Baby Henry still has about 3 weeks until his due date, but the Dr. may have to induce me early due to some pre-eclamptic issues {hoping not, ill find out later day!} At any rate, the boys have been having a blast being with friends, but when they are home with "boring mommy" {im on the couch not doing much of anything!} they have been playing with a set of Hot Dots Jr we bought from Educational Insights. They LOVE it! The only problem is the 2 year old and 3 1/2year old want to play at the SAME time and sharing is still something we're working on.....so, im hoping to either win a new set or purchase one as a "big brother" gift in the near future.

We havent been following a curriculum, I've just been asking the boys what they want to do do--and then I find fun activities in whatever theme they want. All this week my oldest, Brigham, has been begging me about pirates. They started watching that cute pirate cartoon on Disney Jr and now thats all they talk about! I've been printing all things things pirate this week to get ready for next weeks activities. Here is what I've found so far:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 285px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t32ifIzyvvA/TjLY890NCZI/AAAAAAAAD7Y/8M_hI0hnNFQ/s400/piratelapbook.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634804625691183506" />

One of my favorite printable/idea sites is Homeschool Creations. She has a Pirate Lapbook printable that we will be working on starting monday.
http://homeschoolcreations.blogspot.com/2010/11/preschool-corner-pirate-unit-and-pirate.html

I just recently came across another new website that has some great printable, 2 Teaching Mommies. I just downloaded their Pirate unit today and as it was coming off the printer the boys saw it and we had to do a trial run of one of the games this morning! http://www.2teachingmommies.com/2011/07/pirate-printables.html
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 245px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-A53k9jABVI8/TjLY8zEBirI/AAAAAAAAD7g/N88mX7P6Yds/s400/piratedownload.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634804622804748978" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2bKEX3qFNwE/TjLWcYXWfUI/AAAAAAAAD7I/cbKSIuuy75U/s400/044.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634801866858986818" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hTuLpBAxjdw/TjLWcU2ByBI/AAAAAAAAD7A/Ph19axk1G5g/s400/034.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634801865913911314" />

This was the first graphing activity we've ever done and it was really fun! I'll be doing these more often! Just a little advice: I glued the dice as directed, but the glue stick didnt hold up to my 3 hear old's tossing, so I taped the heck out of it as well.....and I laminated the chart so I can re-use it. I have had my eye on the Do-a-dot markers for awhile, but havent gotten around to ordering them. I was at the Dollar Tree the other day picking up some supplies, and came across Bingo Markers. I thought these would be perfect for activities. They are fun, but when we used them on the laminate they remained wet and messy---so I wont be marking them on laminated sheets again. Just a little FYI :)

For a fun artsy craft, I saw these cute paper plate pirates and knew the boys would love to make them. Just adorable! {And I already have all the supplies which is a bonus!}

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gEN7VUn2sUQ/TjLXInxrKVI/AAAAAAAAD7Q/F8M-8Ffi3D0/s400/paperplatepirate.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634802626910169426" />

http://iheartcraftythings.blogspot.com/2011/06/story-time-tuesday-w-paper-plate-pirate.html

I plan on doing a treasure hunt next friday, but I havent figured out the details of it yet. We may invite some neighborhood kids over to get some interaction {we've been cooped up in the house because it is SO DANG HOT HERE IN TEXAS!} As soon as I get some ideas together, I'll post.

If I can get my act together, I have been reallllllllllllllly wanting to learn how to make decorated sugar cookies. I swoon over these whenever I see them posted on party blogs. They are just SO COOL!!!! When I popped on facebook today, I saw a link to these and now I know its meant to be! They match the craft perfectly! I really want to try my hand at these, so maybe I'll be daring enough sometime this week....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 301px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WSB2fD030Qg/TjLiB4j-gFI/AAAAAAAAD7o/BY9uUM1xps4/s400/piratecookie.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5634814605784940626" />

http://sweetsugarbelle.com/2011/07/the-easiest-pirate-face-cookies-youll-ever-make/
We actually dont have any pirate books! crazy. I convinced myself that the blog wasnt worth it because Im not like all the other "cool" blogs that make their own printables, etc. But, I came to the realization that this is a good spot to access ideas and links to other blogs and thats okay. If im searching and using other sites, I should share! So now I dont feel so insignificant :)Kelly Tillotsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539581551186722567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615512952376665556.post-85176715571988815832011-02-16T13:51:00.000-08:002011-02-16T13:52:16.500-08:00Brigham turned 3!!The night before the party, Briggy was our cupcake taste-tester. He has progressed SOOOO much, and we're grateful to her and the program for all that they have provided for our family.
Today she was working on some blends with Briggy that he is having trouble with {shells, sheep, giraffe...etc.} so she had flashcards with those items on them and they each had paper clips on them. With a fishing pole that had a magnent end {ours is a Munchkin bath toy} he would go fishing for the cards and say what he saw on them. I know that that is a pretty common game, but I really liked the ease of the paper clip instead of sticking on those expensive magnets or strips I thought I would have to do to get the same result. He had a lot of fun with it, so I will definitely be doing this with alot of activities in the near future!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TSzYEj37EhI/AAAAAAAADl4/eBxbAyUNv2w/s400/026.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5561057212756595218" />

On an organizational note, I've been trying to find out the best way to organize all of the preschool worksheets I print off and I finally came up with a *cute* solution.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TSzXNcNJ08I/AAAAAAAADlw/XBra6lgX3-8/s400/028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5561056265805353922" />

I was lucky and won an Office Depot gift card from one of their Christmas-time sweepstakes, so I put it to use and bought that ENORMOUS 4" binder. They are really expensive {like $17} which I would never pay with my own loot, but last week they had them on their worklife specials were you get 100% cash back. So I bought it with a gift card {free} and will be sent another gift card for the price I "paid" for it---yea! The size is great though, because with 26 letters, numbers, shapes and colors, I am going to have a lot of print outs over the next 2 years. I bought the A-Z dividers and 1-5 dividers from Avery on Amazon
I wanted the front cover to be cute, so I just used "preschool words" and designed a cover from www.wordle.net I am obsessed with this and have made layouts for every season/holiday to put in a frame in my entryway. Its kind of like subway art that is so in right now---but free and i dont need photoshop!!Kelly Tillotsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539581551186722567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615512952376665556.post-40817731175260309892011-01-11T12:03:00.001-08:002011-01-11T14:04:50.844-08:00LMNO!One thing I always remember was hearing little kids sing "elemeno"! during the alphabet song. So when I first taught Brigham the alphabet we didnt sing it to learn it, we said each letter slowly. Now of course he knows the song, but he knows "lmno" are lumped together like that! We are big fans of the Signing Time DVDs and she actually has a song about LMNO and how they are different. So we watched that clip, and of course listened to the song on repeat {ai-yi-yi} on the signing time cd! I had a lot of different ideas for each letter, but because I did all 4 during the same day, I had to limit the individual activities. I know we'll be reviewing the letters again soon, so I didnt worry about each letter getting less focus.

For L we made and learned about ladybugs
For M we had M&Ms {which have been a potty training reward} Macaroni and Marshmallows
For N we learned about nests
For 0 we learned about Octopuses and Owls

I printed off the A-Z handwriting sheets from Confessions of a Homeschooler
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 233px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TSy5CZzMBaI/AAAAAAAADlA/xRZwMeWQgCU/s400/A-Zhandwritingpromo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5561023090832180642" />
I pretty much use EVERYTHING! she has on her site, and if you were doing each letter separately or wanting more LMNO activities, you'll find tons on her blog.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TSzTS2Z30bI/AAAAAAAADlg/AeufobFyB44/s400/027.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5561051960690856370" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TSzTQ43h_FI/AAAAAAAADlY/gv3RNuZin_A/s400/030.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5561051926992387154" />

We made a lady bug out of construction paper and I asked Brigham how many spots the lady bug should have--he said 10! so I punched out 10 spots and he glued them on. I hope to put together a ladybug file folder game that has some lady bug math using the spots on it this weekend. {Im hoping to be able to post it on Saturday!}
For M I chose all food items to make a craft with. We looked through the pantry and found macaroni and marshmallows to make M's out of. We were lucky to get the M's glued on before he ate them all!!!
The N activity that we used from her blog went over particularly well. I laminated the page with the nests that were divided into capital and lower case Ns and I laminated the sheet that had all of the captial and lower case eggs and then cut them out.
Brigham had to put each egg in the right spot.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 204px; height: 158px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TSy57AdxPhI/AAAAAAAADlI/5dm_umMUT4k/s400/Nnsortboard_thumb1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5561024063284002322" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 204px; height: 158px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TSy6IhOTIZI/AAAAAAAADlQ/pSNoqUeWywg/s400/Nnpieces_thumb1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5561024295415783826" />
The O activity was found on: http://makinglearningfun.com/themepages/OwlHandprint.htm
We are going to turn that Owl activity into a valentine for a certain Auntie Jessie who loves Owls! "Whoooooo loves you" or something cutesy like that will be written on the back with some Briggy drawings!

After going over the handwriting {which he is really picking up well!!} and making the crafts it was time for lunch so we didnt end up doing any other Letter worksheets, but there are so many to choose from.
here are some of my favorites that I am definitely going to use throughout the year in reviews:
L: http://www.first-school.ws/theme/animals/wild/lion.htm
M: http://www.preschoolexpress.com/alphabet_station04/m_activities.shtml
O: http://www.kidzone.ws/math/ocean/k-next1.htmKelly Tillotsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539581551186722567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615512952376665556.post-54145874232061313722011-01-05T11:37:00.000-08:002011-01-05T17:40:17.334-08:00Back--with a new Plan of Attack!The past couple months were a little bit crazy for our family. Nothing major or serious, but I felt a little overwhelmed with things, and took a break from the regimented daily pre-k homeschooling for Brigham. We were *trying* to potty train, FINALLY! had Brigham's adneiods removed and tubes put in his ears and had a few allergy issues and visits with the doctor for our little guy Oliver. Throw in the hectic nature of holidays--and well---I kind of gave up. We still worked daily on learning activities, but the boys watched more dvds than normal {we watch a LOT of Signing Time} Anyway, my 2011 goal was to step-up my pre-k homeschooling and thats what Im here to do!
Before I was having scheduled Preschool time from 10-11:30 everyday. I think that had something to do with the overwhelming feeling I had, feeling the need to have everything prepared everyday and posting stressed me out! Im just not as gun-ho as some other mommies? I dont know, I just felt like maybe if I did a 3-day week I'd feel like I had more time to prepare and less pressure. {pressure I was just placing on myself, but all of you moms know what I mean!} So I decided on Monday, Wednesday and Friday as preschool days! I had my whole lesson plan mapped out for the rest of the year starting on January 3rd, and guess what happened? On January 3rd my son Brigham was NOT HAVING IT! I had designed the schedule similar to what I was doing before with Monday's a focus on ONE LETTER. Well, over these past few months, Brigham has become much more skilled in the alphabet, spelling and even some reading! So the little one letter lesson I planned wasnt "enough" for him. He kept wanting to branch out and do more and didnt seem satisfied with what I had prepared. So I did a little brainstorming and talked with a friend of mine that is an elementary school teacher, and came up with a little more diverse and challenging lesson plan.
I have to re-work some things, but next monday I am going to be starting my regular blog posts again with an L M N O plan for Monday.
This is a learning process for me, so I hope I can help with some links, ideas and organization. Im excited for this new schedule!!!Kelly Tillotsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539581551186722567noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615512952376665556.post-14883230059037283802010-10-19T05:48:00.001-07:002010-10-19T05:54:55.926-07:00Why we're MIA.....since coming back home from my trip, i started potty training briggy and he will soon have his adneiod removed---so things have been crazy and i decided on not having the structured preschool until the week following his surgery {november 8} we've been doing a lot of potty, pumpkin and halloween related activities---but thats about it. If you happen to read this entry, know that there will be more info and worksheets to come--and if you had a minute, pray for my little briggy---we're hoping this surgery will help him in all the speech and behavioral delays he's experiencing.
thank you!
love,
kelly tillotson

ps- to all of you blogger moms that homeschool multiple children, are immaculate homemakers, have side businesses that you run online....and have time to blog daily---i really look up to you and want to know where the HECK YOU FIND YOUR TIME?! I am really struggling with getting all the work together online, let alone teaching it to him, taking care of my younger one, cleaning the house {sort of} and then at the end of the day having the energy to blog about it, when all i want to do is curl up with my hub, popcorn and watch real housewives. I hope she enjoys the time with him, its so exciting for me to see him understand concepts so well. It is one of my favorite times of day with him, and Im so excited in his progress and willingness to participate.

Heres the lowdown on the weeks worksheets:

Letter D:
http://www.first-school.ws/t/alpha_tracers_zb1/d4.htm
http://www.tlsbooks.com/beginningsoundofletterd.pdf
http://www.kidzone.ws/prek_wrksht/learning-letters/d.htm
{Photograhs of Daddy will also be looked at, as well as a portrait of daddy by "little daddy" {thats one of the names briggy likes to be called! heart melting stuff, right?}

The Color Green:
Green grass, playing outside
Frogs
Green fruits and veggies {broccoli, green beans, celery, peas, grapes and pears}
Green Eggs and Ham {Book and Green eggs for a meal!}
Blue and Yellow paint mixing
Red light, Green light. I wish I could take pictures of this, but ill be away! I may just have to play it with him the day I get back. I dont want to overwhelm the boys babysitters with too much, so ive lessened the amount of worksheets for this week, but I also have #4 activity pages from workbooks I purchased at the Dollar Tree {They had Sesame Street, Winnie the Pooh and Disney themed books on shapes, numbers, letters and colors!}
http://www.abchomepreschool.com/FreeColoringPages/Numbers.htm

Shape--Heart:

Heart represents Love. He always makes the shape with his fingers---its sort of weird, but hes always done that! I am about to leave for a week for my best friends wedding, so I am going to post the links up for all the worksheets i'm leaving with my mother in law, friend and husband. Get ready for a lot of links!

Triangles:

{Scroll to page 4} http://www.tlsbooks.com/minishapebook.PDF
{Pages 7-9} http://www.tlsbooks.com/dopeydragonshapes.pdf
http://www.tlsbooks.com/imlearningaboutshapestriangle.pdf
http://www.education.com/files/65501_65600/65581/file_65581.pdf
http://www.kinderplans.com/admin/images/shapes11.pdf

The number 4, the color green, hearts and conference packet to follow....Kelly Tillotsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539581551186722567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615512952376665556.post-31017810361481775552010-09-22T13:35:00.000-07:002010-09-22T14:01:27.273-07:00All about Orange!Today our focus was the color orange. I had originally "scheduled in my head" the weeks based on ROYGBIV and then on the 8th week have a rainbow activity, but when it came down to the wire a couple weeks ago I decided to swap the yellow and orange. We did yellow last week and it went perfect with the bananas and bus theme that I worked on with Briggy, and when you mix red {week one} and yellow {week 2} you get ORANGE {for today!} I have a painting activity planned to do when Briggy wakes up from his nap. We played outside a little too long for "exercise" today, and ran out of time. We did color all of our worksheets and played an orange game!

Here are the links to the orange pages {they are mostly coloring pages of fruits and veggies that are orange}

Color Orange and Practice Writing

Pumpkin 1
Pumpkin 2
Carrots
Orange-Fruit

Online game of Orange

A ton of Orange-related ideas

Since today is the first day of Fall {90 degrees in texas. boohoo.} and orange is such an essential fall color I showed pictures of fall trees to Brigham online. I showed him where we used to live and photos of 2 falls ago, even before baby Ollie was born when we went to Vermont and saw the most beautiful trees.
Okay, heres the pic...only because it makes me so happy and sad all in one. I am a New England girl TRULY missing her Autumn weather and foilage...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TJprTBx_4NI/AAAAAAAADZA/webYVQKNOws/s400/vermont2008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519842267935793362" />

Left-to-Right
Me, Tom, Briggy in Bjorn, My best friend Alisa. Behind us: The Autumnal Glory of Vermont!

The trees don't turn those colors here in Texas...at least not the small farming town we live in. Sigh. So I told Briggy about Jack Frost and how he starts to go to work this time of year painting the leaves orange, yellow and red. I told him that Jack needed help in Texas, so we needed to make a magic fall wand.
I cut out a few scraps of different colored ribbon. I laid them all out and Briggy had to pick only the ribbon that had orange on it. Then I hot-glued the ribbon to a big popsicle stick that briggy had colored orange. Now he needs to work his magic and turn all the leaves and trees around him orange!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TJptYlBaMMI/AAAAAAAADZg/8OdQzKGBo3Q/s400/002.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519844562318274754" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TJptXy__kLI/AAAAAAAADZY/1DmiUsPdx4A/s400/003.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519844548890562738" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TJptXp-l4qI/AAAAAAAADZQ/CYMNMqyu7s8/s400/005.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519844546468766370" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TJptXSo2GqI/AAAAAAAADZI/__X3zJXXN9c/s400/007.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519844540203539106" />Kelly Tillotsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539581551186722567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615512952376665556.post-7149596486412055832010-09-21T21:17:00.000-07:002010-09-21T21:41:38.735-07:00Counting to 3 and Texture Tuesday!Phew! back on track today with the CORRECT lesson, just way late posting it. When naps get pushed back, and groceries need to be bought and episodes of Glee and The Duggars need to be watched....Im posting at 11pm! I need to get on top of things! My best friend is getting married and I am heading out back East for the preparations and wedding next week...and well, ive got lots to do and on my mind. Like how am I going to clean my house enough so my Mother-in-law isn't mortified at the slob her son married! {okay, its not that bad, but i've seriously been slacking the past 2 weeks...}
Anyway, here are lots of 3 worksheets. Im kind of excited to get through 10 so I can start doing more activities that use all the numbers. There are alot of great ideas out there, but they are more for general numbers and math and not so much specific numbers. So the worksheets are pretty repetitive, but its been good for Briggy. He's only 2 1/2 so he really needs the repetition for it to become well-known and remembered in his little noggin.

Practice Tracing 3
Coloring and Tracing {and it was a C word! {cloud} love it!}
More Coloring and Tracing!

Finding sets of 3 and more tracing!

Sets of 3
#1
#2
#3 {page 3}

The "sensory" activity was a little different today. I had a 3 story compilation book from when I was a little girl that we read today. It had the 3 little pigs, 3 little kittens and 3 little bears. I actually found it for sale online at amazon, but Its not in print anymore. I always really liked that book since I got three stories read to me for the price of one :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_siiOAroguJ4/TJmH9IB9tTI/AAAAAAAADY4/wfZcKSd43Co/s400/3bedtimestories.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519592302516745522" />
{heres the link, its going for $43...bet you can find a different book. maybe I should sell mine? haha}
The sensory activity revolved around the story of the 3 little bears. I had 3 pails. 1 was filled with raffia {straw} the second with pipecleaners {sticks---we dont have any trees in our little subdivision yard. so sad} and lastly, lego "bricks"
Briggy had to guess which one was what as we read through, and afterwards he had lots of fun building his houses, and even more fun watching me *try* to blow them down.
Do I have pictures? No. I want to cry. I am so bad at this! Im all excited putting these activities together and I always forget :( then we're in the middle of it upstairs and I hate to leave him half way through {because I know hes going to destroy whatever it is by the time I find the camera} Seriously, I to just put it in my pocket in the mornings. I am so disapointed in myself! Its kind of boring just reading a blog with no pictures. I am normally a very visual person, so I appreciate when other bloggers post pictures. I feel like I have a better understanding of what they are doing.
Anyway, I solemnly promise to snap photos from now on. Promise, to all 2 of you that happen to read these daily entries!Kelly Tillotsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14539581551186722567noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-615512952376665556.post-6665779524706870482010-09-20T18:44:00.000-07:002010-09-20T19:09:16.807-07:00The Letter C and CTRCan I be completely honest with you?
